Jackfruit

The jackfruit is the largest tree fruit in the world. The fruit can weigh as much as 55 kg (120 pounds), and 90 cm (35 inches) in diameter.

This morning grandma Sri has given her grandchildren the task of harvesting Jackfruit for the family.

The jackfruit is huge, and as you can see a two wheeler is needed to haul several of the fruit back to the farmhouse.

The ripe fruit is sweet and is commonly used in desserts. Canned green jackfruit has a mild taste and meat-like texture that lends itself to being called "vegetable meat". Both ripe and unripe fruits are eaten.

It is available internationally, canned or frozen, and in chilled meals, as are various products derived from the fruit, such as noodles and chips.
