Uthai Thani, Thailand.
Recently we traveled to Uthai Thani, Thailand to visit Wat Tha Sung, The Crystal Temple, and also found an out of the way treasure.
The temple, is also known as Wat Chantharam and it was built in the days of Ayutthaya. The word Sung in Thai means log, and the original construction was wood. Years later, in 1789, a monk by the name of Luang Pho Yaii was approached by the villagers and asked to be the head of the temple (abbot). He took the part, renovated the temple, and over the years further structures have been added to the complex, yet the main attraction is the hall – which is the largest, most impressive part of the temple.
The main temple is three stories, with the ground floor being made up of large crystal pillars and mirrors. This theme is carried out in the other floors as well, but to a lesser degree.
After visiting the temple we drove through the town and stumbled onto a quaint coffee shop.
The building was filled with a collection of interesting items, none of which was for sale, just for decoration.
The building is three stories and the upper floors are interesting to visit.
